LWNN Preseason Ranking performances: Worst to Best

Image
If there is one thing to learn from our yearly preseason rankings, it’s that we suck at them. Aside from predicting Coach Tad as last years future champion (albeit with an entirely different roster than what we used to predict it), the LWNN coaches have a prediction track record worse than Coach Hazen predicting Yankee records. So, how did each team hold up to their respective preseason expectations in 2018? Let’s take a worst-to-best walk down Vegas lane, shall we? First off, a reminder of the 2018 draft night preseason rankings: 1 Tanner (1 shy of unanimous) 2 Tad 3 Andrew 4 Dillon T5 Donald T5 Hunter 7 Sayer 8 Trey (unanimous) 8. Coach Tanner Preseason: 1  Actual: 5 (-4) The WR draft of a lifetime, a TE setting an all time catch record, and an MVP candidate QB. That does not sound like a disappointment. Unfortunately for Coach Tanner, there was no super stud to carry this team to a title like LWNN Hall of Famers Marshawn Lynch or Dez Bryant. The running backs on ...

3. Mooseknuckles def. 15’s 138-122 (Wk 11) Week 11 makes a second straight appearance, but with the Monday Night air war that was Chiefs-Rams it is no surprise. While Coaches Tad and Trey were battling up the stairs from the basement, Coaches Sayer and Jordon were on the roof of the house in a fight for the top of the Left Side. The Knucks had a sizeable lead heading into the weeks finale, and with Tyreek and Gurley the Based Todd still to play it looked like a sure W. TG3 mustering only 8 points left the door open though and back to back Mahomes to Kelce TDs cut the lead to single digits going into the 4th. Another 24 points from Woods and Greg the Leg made it interesting, but the Knucks were able to hold on and tie the division lead up at 6-5. This 260 point firework show set up for a division battle over the last 2 weeks, resulting in Coach Carney working hard to obtain his always ultimate goal - 2nd.

4. The Big Johnson def. The Tankers 108-104 (Wk 11) Week 11 showed to be a pivotal week in the cannibalistic Left Side. While the 15’s and Mooseknuckles battled each other for the division lead, two other streaking teams looked to get back into the playoffs. Coach Tad had lost 3 in a row since fighting to get above .500 at 4-3, and the Tank had started to live up to the hype of their name, losing back to back games immediately after their short stay at #1 in the LWNN Power Rankings after week 8. At the conclusion of Sunday’s late games the defending champs held on to a 51 point lead, while still employing the #1 WR in fantasy on Sunday Night. But newly acquired Diggs beat out his teammate Thielen by 10, and Jared Goff went crazy on MNF. Unfortunately Goff’s incredible performance was held down by 2 fumbles, which was enough to label him the newest Tank Commander (although we all know that job belongs to Tarik Cohen). Tanks go to the basement and the defending champs save their seaso...

Ah yes. The Playoffs. The time all of us coaches have been waiting for. The true most wonderful time of the year. Or as Coach Hazen calls it, Pre-Draft season.  We all know that the postseason is where it all really matters, but it would be irresponsible of us to move on without so much as stopping to look back at some of the gems the League produced this year. There were ups and downs, and maybe later we can get into the downs. But for now let’s check out some of those ratings grabbers of the regular season, shall we? 5. Cool Guys def. Mooseknuckles 112-107 (Wk 4)      The Cool Guys were tasked with hosting the last remaining unbeaten team in the League when Coach Sayer and his 3-0 ‘Knucks came to town. Big Ben is known for leaving his fingerprints on things, but in this matchup he really lived up to his “I wasn’t there” catchphrase with a 14 point dud. Luckily, Beastmode came to play with his best output of the season, and Marshawn Lynch ran all over the Bro...
